Bright Beginnings Staff - 2005
|

|
|
|
Our
wonderful teachers help sustain this special environment here at
Bright Beginnings. Each class will usually have a specific teacher
for group time; however, every teacher gets to know all the children
during the early morning and late afternoon free play times. We
also find that establishing a strong line of communication between
parents and teachers helps us in providing the best care possible
for your child.

Teacher
Screening:
|
|
|
Prospective
teachers are well-screened through a variety of methods. The first
steps are: application, personal interview, and references. The
second step is a working interview in which the applicant must spend
approximately 2 hours working with the children under the supervision
of senior teachers. Opinions of the senior teachers are taken into
consideration prior to extending an offer of employment. |

Teacher
Training:
|
|
|
A new
teacher spends approximately 2 weeks on the floor working with
other senior teachers. During this time they also meet several
times with the director to discuss their responsibilities and
complete a training checklist.
Teachers
must also complete 20 hours a year (every year) of In-service
education and it is required that EVERY teacher be trained in
Communicable Disease, First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse and Prevention
Recognition.

Teacher
Development:
|
|
|
Teacher
meetings are scheduled every 8-12 weeks. These meetings focus on
keeping the consistency, learning new teaching methods and brainstorming
on new and fun activities for the children.
An
Annual Teacher Retreat takes place every August in which teachers
are provided with an abundance of information and materials regarding
early childhood development. Team building exercises, brainstorming
and role-playing activities are also part of the daylong agenda.
Teachers
are also given the opportunity to attend professional workshops
and seminars at the expense of Bright Beginnings.
